Ryan Lay ...
A self taught glass blower, has taken off after only a one month session of glass blowing, to make his life long dream a career for himself.
This 25 year old Columbus, Ohio native is designing artistic marbles, pendant's, perfume bottles, ornaments and other glass collectable's. Ryan was Published on the Lark Book, "1000 Glass Beads", seen at the right.
His glass is made out of Borosilicate (Pyrex/Simax) glass which is heated and manipulated in a 2500-degree torch. Color is added with color rods and precious metals such as fine silver and 24K gold. When the piece is finished it is put in a small kiln to anneal it for durability and strength.
His marbles are very contemporary and they all have lovely color combinations. Some of his current styles are implosion flowers, dichroic galaxies, and opal vortex which are up to 2 1/2" inches in size.
